Nose Job CostCosmetic surgery is a growing industry. In 2010, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported 13.1 million cosmetic procedures were performed, an increase of 5% from the previous year. Part of that growing number includes teens as young as 13.

218,909 of all cosmetic procedures were performed on teenagers. Boys and girls age 13-19 make up about 2% of plastic surgery procedures performed in the U.S.

In their 2010 report (2011 statistics are not yet available), the ASPS reported the most popular cosmetic surgeries teens are getting.

 

#1 Nose jobs

#2 Breast reduction for men

#3 Otoplasty (cosmetic ear surgery)

#4 Breast augmentation

#5 Liposuction

Far and away, the most popular cosmetic procedures for teens are nose jobs, which make up 45% of all teen cosmetic surgical procedures. More than 35,000 teens got nose jobs in 2010.

8,525 teens age 13-19 received breast augmentation in 2010. It’s the #4 most popular teen cosmetic surgery.

Botox is not included in the list, because it’s considered a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure. But the stats show teens are using Botox in increasing numbers.

You may not think teens would get Botox, since the injections are primarily used to treat wrinkles. But statistics show 13,467 Botox procedures were performed on teens age 13-19 in 2010. That’s up 13% from the previous year.
